Home made corned beef

1 kg meat, preferably fatty
250mg saltpeter
10 unions, chopped
5 garlic cloves, chopped
tomatoe paste (apr. from 4 boiled tomatoes)
1 tsp nutmeg
salt, sugar and pepper


  1. Mix saltpeter,  a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Stir well until dissolved.
  2. Pierce the meat all over with a fork or a small sharp knife. Put the meat in the mixing bowl,
    be sure it’s submerged completely..Leave it aproximately 24 hours, then rinse well under cold running water.
  3. Put the meat in the boiled water, put all the union, garlic, tomatoe paste, nutmeg, sugar, salt and pepper.
    Simmer until tender, approximately 2,5 hours.

Your corned beef is ready to serve. Enjoy!
